The Oregon Pre-Kindergarten Grant Application
Description of Grant Opportunity
The ELD plans to award up to $122 million in grants for Oregon Pre-Kindergarten program services for the 2020 – 2021 program year. In addition to current grantees being given the opportunity to apply to continue their current service level, the ELD is seeking to expand part-day opportunities, Extended Duration opportunities, increase teacher salaries, increase transportation supports, and expand opportunities for prenatal through age three services.
All applicants will complete the same on-line application. However, due to the complexities of the underlying legislation, and the components of the application, applicants will complete a varying number of application elements, dependent upon what the applicant is proposing.
Applicants may apply for the following based on current status:
Oregon Pre-Kindergarten applicants who are new to the program may apply for the following:
- Part Day Oregon Pre-Kindergarten Slots serving three and four year olds
- Oregon Pre-Kindergarten Prenatal to Three Slots serving prenatal to three year olds
Oregon Pre-Kindergarten applicants who currently have an Oregon Pre-Kindergarten grant or a Prenatal to Three grant (previously known as Oregon Early Head Start) with the Early Learning Division may apply for Current Service Level funding alone, or with any of a combination of the following:
- Expansion of part-day services
- Extended Duration services
- Oregon Pre-Kindergarten Prenatal to Three Slots, serving prenatal to three year olds
Application Review Process
Applications that are complete and submitted by 5:00 pm on April 2, 2020 and deemed eligible will be reviewed. ELD staff will prepare recommendations for the Review Committee determined by the Early Learning Council and the Early Learning System Director to consider. Applications will be scored based on the applicant’s responses and adherence to the application instructions. All Review Committee meetings and materials will be open to the public.
